California has some of America's nicest cities, some of the biggest trees in the world, the most famous highway, Highway 1, and nature that keeps me coming back again and again. It is actually for the nature that I love California mainly. Yosemite, Lake Tahoe, Redwoods, Joshua Tree are just a few of the beautiful national parks in California. Accessible, magnificent, and unforgettable are three good words to describe California's nature.San Francisco is very different from any other city in the US and that's perhaps why it's a favorite. Diversity, openness and curiosity meet you everywhere.Highway 1 from San Francisco to Los Angeles gives you a nice road trip, but a tip is to drive the route north of San Francisco rather than the one towards Los Angeles. Here the sea is wilder and the vineyards and cozy small towns are more numerous.
Los Angeles is honestly not my favorite city – too big, too superficial and too charmless. I actually chose to fly home a day earlier than planned. So unfortunately you won't find a "top ten" list for Los Angeles here on Rucksack.
