Everything written on Rucksack is by me, Eva. But our trips are for the whole family. We think and discuss and argue about everything between heaven and destination until we agree on where to go. There can be a lot of discussion. We are three strong wills with strong opinions. One thing I have learned is that it is incredibly much easier to plan a trip with children under 10, than to plan a trip with a tween. We all have to get something out of our travels, which right now is a bit of a puzzle.
So, what does the rest of the family think? What is the best destination, where do we not want to go again and what are our dream destinations? Here comes the entire Rucksack family's travel dreams - "E" as in Eva, "A" as in Anders and "little E" for our daughter.
What kind of holiday do you like?
E: I love vacations where I can hike in nature and have access to a car! We don't necessarily have to go to different hotels every night (although we usually do), but I want to be able to move freely! I don't like pure sun holidays and charters with a teddy bear club.
A: Combination of city and nature in different flight stops.
Little E: Pool Vacation! Relaxing holiday!
Which three countries are your favourites?
E: For me, it is important that I should be able to feel safe when I move around the country. So I choose Australia, Portugal and Iceland.
A: Australia, USA, Singapore
Small E: Australia, Singapore, Thailand
Which three cities are your favourites?
E: Singapore, Melbourne, Berlin
A: Singapore, Seattle, Paris
Little E: Singapore, Cairns, London
What is your favorite hotel?
E: The Surin, Phuket (I often dream back to our villa overlooking the sea), the Cambrian in Adelboden and the Four Seasons Gresham Palace in Budapest.
A: The Ritz Carlton Dubai
Little E: Jumeirah Zabeel Saray in Dubai
Which airline do you prefer to fly?
E: Emirates and SAS (Best flight attendants! Nudge nudge Sofie!)
A: Emirates and SAS
Little E: Emirates
Which countries/cities do you NOT long to return to?
E: Right now I have no longing to go back to either the Dominican Republic, Jamaica, Mexico, India, Egypt or Turkey.
A: Manila and Saint Petersburg
Little E: A hotel in Austria where they didn't have wifi and the window was so high I couldn't see out!
What is your dream trip?
E: Around the world with Four Seasons Jet.
A: Road trip across the US (again). Also see more of Japan.
Little E: Cairns! Again!
What is your worst travel memory?
E: When I got bilateral pneumonia in Australia and didn't realize it, but flew to Singapore before going to the doctor. Bad idea. A chest X-ray, bed rest and two different antibiotics later, however, I was able to fly home to Sweden!
A: A hotel in Paris during a train crash many years ago. It must have been rated -5!
Little E: When I threw up in Cairns. I had had a cold soup in the pool. Not fun!
Where would you like to go in 2019?
E: Besides our planned hiking trip to Madeira and our planned road trip in Italy, I'm dying to go back to Australia and New Zealand. Costa Rica also attracts.
A: Japan, Seattle and Hawaii
Little E: Cairns and Singapore
Do you like heat or cold on holiday?
E: Heat. Have no problem when it's really hot, but I hate the cold.
A: Heat. If I had to choose. Otherwise preferably "temperate".
Little E: Heat!
What three things do you always pack in your suitcase?
E: Camera, iPad and tweezers
A: Kindle, mobile charger and nail clippers
Little E: Clothes, sweets for the flight, mobile phone
Fun reading! I have a similar post lying among my drafts, might as well take it and try to finish it.?
Glad you liked it, Yaaaaa, finish writing that post! :)
Nice post! Can also state that you seem to agree on quite a lot! :) Greetings from Sri Lanka!
We're so lucky that we're so well-coordinated, otherwise we'd never have gone on a trip! ??
But I have to admit that the man was a little skeptical about Tallinn before we went here, nice that we don't always have to be 100% coordinated to get away?
Hope you have a great time in Sri Lanka! ??
Interesting to read.
Thinking about doing some kind of travel interview with my kids as well. :-)
Yes, feel free to do so! Was super fun to read! It was also incredibly fun to ask the daughter about her travel memories and experiences and dreams. She remembered occasions and places that I had completely forgotten! Says something about how a trip can be experienced differently from person to person :)
