The surin is located on Phuket's best beach, Pansea beach, with its over 100 white villas hidden behind palm fronds and banana plants along a hill. The beach is private and the hotel is quiet and secluded, but within walking distance to Surin beach and a larger selection of restaurants. Unlike the rest of the beaches on Phuket, here it is still possible to lie in a sunbed on the beach and the hotel ensures that there are sunbeds for everyone who wants them.
Architecture and surroundings
The hotel looks like a secret James Bond villa and the architecture is both striking, modern and appealing. Up kullen winding steep stairs and it is not impossible that there are over 100 steps to your white villa - especially if you have booked one of the cheaper categories. But if you don't have problems with your knees or need a pram, the stairs are good exercise.
Rum
The small villas have white and gray rooms with wooden details, marble floors and a private terrace with sun loungers. Many rooms have lovely views of the pool area and beach. Well equipped with free water in the hotel's own bottles, nice shower and body products, mosquito spray and espresso machine. The extra bed for children was a real bed, which contributed to good sleep for the whole family. Good wifi throughout the hotel, also on the beach and by the pool. Air conditioning in the bedroom.
Pool and beach
The hexagonal, visually beautiful black pool is the hotel's signature. God what a pool! Shallow at the edges and deep in the middle, so it works for slightly older children who can swim. There is also a splash pool for small children.
The beach is cleaned daily and is both fine-grained and lined with palm trees. Since it is not possible to get down to the beach without going through the reception, it is only hotel guests on the beach and no crowd. We ate breakfast in peace and quiet every day and even though we weren't out by the pool until around 10, we were usually the first.
Food and Drinks
The hotel has 3 restaurants and a beach bar. We tried all the restaurants and were very happy with everything we ate. Both international and Thai cuisine. The best was the light necked tuna in red curry and the noodle soup with dumplings which I kept coming back to. V
fully equipped breakfast with everything you need and then some, with a great view of the beach and pool area. Fast and attentive service that clears plates all the time. The service at the pool was also good, but there the waiting time was a little longer. The beach bar had happy hour every night at sunset, so that's where most of the guests hung out before dinner.
Service
Great staff and fantastic service in general! We had a problem with our air conditioner on the first day and water was running down the ceiling and floor, but as soon as we informed the front desk about the problem they sent a guy to fix it. As it could not be fixed quickly, they offered us to switch to a larger villa closer to the water, which we accepted. The hotel took care of our transfer between the houses and as a band-aid we were given a bottle of Cote-de-Rhone. Problem solved and everyone happy.
Child friendly
Already at check-in, the children come into focus. As a check-in gift, all children receive a small bag of beach toys and crafts, so they can run straight to the beach and start building sand castles. It's no problem to get the food in the restaurants adapted to exactly what the children want, and in the pancake line they get to lead the way. But the hotel is undoubtedly best suited for children who are big enough to walk up the stairs by themselves, otherwise it can be a burden for mum and dad to carry.
So what will the overall family rating be? Really really good! An oasis in Phuket for those who want to avoid charter tourists and have a paradise beach almost to themselves. We would love to come back here to rest up!
