Rucksack is currently being upgraded to become bigger, better and faster. Sorry for the inconvenience!——-
There are people who find their peace of mind when they return to the same strawberry field at their summer home each year, people who talk about the freedom of having a caravan but always park at the same camping ground and people who think that a culture clash is when they find a new hot dog with a weird name in the fridge at the supermarket. We are not them. Nor do we desire to challenge each other through crazy expeditions in the mountains without oxygen with 100 kg in the backpack. We crave more culture than hard core adventure. We are backpackers at heart, but with a slightly better budget.
To travel is to experience – enjoying life with all senses. Can you call yourself a traveller, if you have such a tight budget that you cannot afford to enjoy to taste the local delicacies or have to fight cockroaches each night in the hotel room so that you fall asleep from exhaustion in the middle of a Chinese opera? In our eyes, you haven’t visited a country if you’ve just physically been there. If you travel just to check off countries in the world, do you travel for the right reasons?
We always travel on a budget – pretty tight which does not allow for too many spontaneous helicopter tours or nights at the Shangri-La. However, we always do our homework before the trip to be able to create smart travel routes and have time to get a feel of the place. The site rucksack.se was started in 2003 to share photos and memories from our trips with friends and family. During the years, the site has evolved and now we are mainly focusing on photography and travel, rather than travel advice.
By rucksack, we travel back in memory to all the wonderful people and places that we visited. Travelling is actually not that hard – you just have to consciously open your eyes! It doesn’t even have to be expensive – to get off the subway at another station than your own or to visit your grandmother in Köpmanholmen is also to travel. With rucksack.se, we hope to give inspiration to all of you to go out and explore our world. Remember that all great adventures begin with a single step.
